I've modified the MSI in Ocra, but it still doesn't uninstall previous versions of Java. Thanks, but I have tried pushing it out via GPO and it deploys successfully. Orca is a free program I use to modify the MSI. Sounds much simpler than trying to do it via scripting. Have you considered modifying the MSI that you push out? And if you push them out via GPO, you can also automatically uninstall old versions via GPO as well.
I'm not having the same issue as you, I can't offer much for a fix, but maybe an alternative.
